Welcome to Mayweather’s Poetry Corner, a haven for faerie and folktale poetry of all sorts, but especially poems pertaining to the world of the For Keeps novels. We welcome you to experiment and contribute, and Mayweather especially encourages poetry with a lot of trochees (stress-unstress feet, as in “Double, double toil and trouble” which is four trochees or “Twinkle, twinkle little star” which is three trochees and a masculine (stressed) ending). All posted poetry is the sole property of the poet who posted, so please enjoy the work and the game, but please don’t wander off with works to post elsewhere on the web without the express permission of the poster.
Note: Mayweather insists there will be spectacular prizes for the poets whose work he best likes, but he won’t tell me what the prize will be. April warns: “If he offers you pieces of blue hair or any kind of consumable, accept them at your own (great) risk.”
Prompts:
1) Spells, Curses, Trades
2) Pixie Wars
3) Lost and Found and Stolen
4) Cheating Death
5) Elaborate on a posted poem (please reference the original poem)
6) Create your own prompt and/or propose a new prompt for the list!
